The Donald Ross Society Foundation is a charitable trust that has been operated by the Donald Ross Society for some time. The Foundation currently has assets of just over $60,000.00. Over the years the Foundation has granted a number of scholarships to students involved in the area of Golf Course Architecture. More recently the Foundation has given money to the Wilmington Municipal in Wilmington, North Carolina to kick off an effort to restore the bunkering at this great public facility. In 2002, the Foundation donated $10,000.00 to the Tufts Archives in Pinehurst to help continue the preservation and dissemination of original Ross documents that are so very important in aiding Clubs that are pursuing restoration work. The Foundation is a 501 C-3 organization. According to the IRS the Foundation must receive a certain amount of outside contributions to keep its’ status. The only source of income for the trust in the past few years has been the contributions it has received directly from the Donald Ross Society. With this in mind the Donald Ross Society Foundation is calling for contributions. We intend to use the money to continue working with Municipal Ross courses, many of which are in dire need of attention. We hope that by initiating Architectural review, we can arouse interest among the municipalities to restore the wonderful Ross works that they operate. We hope that we have the same effect as we did at Wilmington where a $7,000.00 donation spurred the City into investing $ 180,000.00 to restore the bunkers. Of course, we also feel obligated to continue our support for the Tufts Archives in Pinehurst. With this in mind, we urge our members to open their checkbooks and contribute to our Foundation. Please send the donations to:
